On April 19th 2022 we experienced the absolute highlight of our Easter School holidays, the hugely successful, FULLY BOOKED, April Mini Squad Day.
Team members Sam, Erin, Hayley, Lily and Roberta gave their most to provide a committed session to all participants so they could have the most super day out.
The weather was not kind, so we adapted by starting the day with some outdoor games of mini footy, target toss, and bubble blowing in the shelter as it drizzled.
Then we moved inside for non-stop fun on the inflatable boats, life jackets, running on mats and riding noodles in the 25 metre shallow and deep end.
There was delicious hot food and snacks, fun pool time plus the opportunity to make new friends while we played.
We burnt off all our leftover energy riding the slides, playing tiggy and using the water playground. And when it all got a bit too much there was colouring in and calm play space available.
All of the facilitators were so impressed by the strength, resilience, fun and patience the group showed, as they bonded early on to create some lovely times together.
Squad days are not only great fun, they also play an important role in the personal development of our young participants by encouraging them to build independence with daily living skills, such as:
- Dressing
- Self-care
- Drying off
- Following instructions
- Waiting their turn
- Trying new things
- And lots more!
We look forward to doing it again in the upcoming June/July holidays.
If you would like your young person to be involved, please make sure you get in quick when expression of interest opens in early June 2022.
